Kirinyaga Members of county assembly (MCA)s have promised to use the car grants that President Uhuru Kenyatta promised them to buy county ambulances instead of personal vehicles.

The ward reps said the devolved unit did not have enough ambulances to meet the demand in the county and they would thus ensure each ward gets one.

According to the Standard, nominated MCA Caroline Wanjiku said Kirinyaga only has a single unequipped ambulance which is often not available and suitable for referrals.

Thiba MCA Pius Njogu lauded the decision and said it will only boost the health sector and also save lives.

"We will not take the loan as Kirinyaga MCAs. Instead, each ward is going to have an ambulance from the car loan that the president promised," he said.President Uhuru Kenyatta promised KSh 2 million car grant for each ward rep in Kenya in what was seen as an incentive for the Building Bridges Initiative.
The Jubilee leader implored the leaders to make an informed decision on the BBI without being misled by forces keen to frustrate the Constitutional amendment process.
